DAY 23 IN HAWAII: LAST FULL DAY ON THE BIG ISLAND

Note: On mobiles there may be large gaps between pictures. Just keep scrolling down. If you get an error message on the videos there is probably also a link in the error message telling you that if you click the link you can view it on youtube. The videos don't seem to work on all web browsers.

For those wanting to know how Finn is doing. His father had this to say this morning: "When in the hospital, it is tradition to never say "We are going home today." Instead we say "We are going to the zoo today" in an effort to not jinx our leaving. Few things in life are more superstitious then baseball players and parents in a hospital. Cheers to a trip to the zoo today!"

Aloha!

Yesterday was our last full day on The Big Island. That means today is a travel day and you know how poorly I have handled those in the past. Will find the strength to do better to do better today. We are off to Oahu.

We started off the day with a nice slow morning just watching the waves roll in from the terrace.

Breakfast was eggs and potatoes with chives.

We basically did nothing until lunch time. For lunch we had pasta with oysters, onions and green beans.

After that we decided to explore the only major area of the island we hadn't stopped to explore and that was the coffee plantation district. Here are some pictures of our day.

Below are pictures from what is called "The Painted Church". In most churches the images are depicted on stained glass windows. Here the windows are clear but the church itself is painted.

I didn't have dinner last night. I did consume a bottle of wine. Not the right decision given today is a travel day which tends to be a challenging day but I can't undo it now. I had yesterday's dinner for breakfast this morning. Hopefully that will keep me full through the airport and flight.

Aloha!

Alan
